ATLANTA, GA– Servidyne, an energy and sustainability consulting firm, provided pro bono services to help Drew Charter School in Atlanta achieve 2016 ENERGY STAR Certification. The ENERGY STAR was awarded to Drew Charter School Junior/Senior Academy, serving more than 700 students in the East Lake community.

Servidyne provided engineering services to verify energy performance and review the facility’s indoor air quality. During the verification site visit, Meghan McNulty, Servidyne’s engineer, discovered an unusual control issue with the ventilation system that, when adjusted, greatly enhanced the indoor air quality in the building.

Ms. McNulty stated, ͞The school had been built to LEEDTMstandards, but the onsite walkthrough – as is required for ENERGY STAR certification – identified an opportunity to take full advantage of the advanced ventilation system features that had been installed, to ensure a healthy indoor environment for school children and staff.͟

Servidyne is proud to assist local community organizations with ENERGY STAR verification services on a pro bono basis. ENERGY STAR published a case study on this experience to promote the newly formalized pro bono verification program, a joint initiative with Public Architecture’s 1+ Program and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
