This improvement plan incorporates a rating system to help you achieve your energy and environmental goals. As a reward for meeting or exceeding national standards, the EPA and Department of Energy awards the ENERGY STAR to buildings who have satisfactorily improved their usage. How do you stack up?The EPA’s ENERGY STAR rating tool provides an energy performance rating on a scale of 1 to 100, with 100 being the most energy efficient and 1 being the least. The score represents a percentile ranking compared to the overall national building stock. The ENERGY STAR Label is awarded to buildings that score 75 or above, indicating they are in the top 25 percent of buildings across the nation. With a rating of 75 or above, a building is eligible for the ENERGY STAR Label. However, before the Label is awarded, a Professional Engineer (PE) must perform a site visit and verify the data and complete the application for the label.
