ATLANTA – May 8, 2011 – SERVIDYNE, INC. (Nasdaq: SERV), an energy efficiency and demand response company, announced today that it is has been awarded contracts to provide energy efficiency and demand response services for commercial and institutional buildings in the City of San Antonio, Texas. The initial two contracts, valued in excess of $560,000, call for the Company to provide retro-commissioning and energy audit services for these facilities over the next two years. Servidyne also will perform demand response audits as part of a package of services it will provide for each building, strengthening the Company’s position as one of the leading demand response service providers in San Antonio.

The contracts were awarded by the City of San Antonio as part of the City’s Better Buildings Program, utilizing a $10 million federal grant secured by the City. The Better Buildings Program is designed to help small and large scale businesses in San Antonio identify and implement energy efficiency and capital investment efficiency measures. The City expects the program to lead to increased knowledge and awareness, lower energy costs, reduced demand for electricity and decreased greenhouse gas emissions, and to demonstrate a model that can be replicated across the country. Servidyne was selected and awarded the contracts by the City at the conclusion of a widely contested qualifications-based evaluation process.

The award of these contracts is the latest in a series of recent achievements for Servidyne in San Antonio.  In the last two years alone, Servidyne has performed more than 30 detailed demand response audits there, enabling commercial, institutional and industrial end-users to successfully take advantage of demand response incentives offered by the local utility.

“We are excited to announce these new contracts,” noted Jim Josephson, Servidyne’s Vice President of Sales.  “We believe that the City of San Antonio’s systematic bundling of demand response audits with energy audits and retro-commissioning services for commercial and industrial buildings is truly ground-breaking among major American cities. Fortunately the City has recognized Servidyne’s unparalleled technical skills in each of these areas. We all look forward to serving the fine people in the San Antonio area.”

Servidyne’s technology-enabled demand response and energy efficiency system, creates immediate and ongoing value for utility companies by reducing excess demand on the electric grid and decreasing their need to build new electric generating plants. This allows building owners and operators to participate in utilities’ demand response programs and to implement energy efficiency measures that improve their bottom line.
