SERVIDYNE ASSISTING LENNOX INTERNATIONAL WITH ENERGY CONSERVATION PROGRAM
ATLANTA – February 9, 2011 – SERVIDYNE, INC. (Nasdaq: SERV), an energy efficiency and demand response company, announced today that it has completed the first year of an energy management partnership with Lennox International, Inc. (NYSE:LII) to increase the energy efficiency of Lennox’s nationwide portfolio of facilities. As part of this arrangement, Lennox and Servidyne partnered on identifying and implementing significant investments in 18 energy conservation projects at 12 separate facilities in 2010. Lennox and Servidyne plan to continue their partnership as Lennox continues to implement building controls upgrades, improved compressed air systems, and lighting retrofits and upgrades at its broad portfolio of manufacturing, office, distribution and retail buildings.
“Energy efficiency and occupant comfort are at the core of our success as a global leader in the heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration markets,” says James Borzi, Vice President of Operations of Lennox International. “This program is very important as we continue to define ourselves as leaders in energy efficiency and sustainability within our marketplace. Servidyne is bringing a high level of quality and reliability to the program, and to date we are very pleased with their efforts and results.”
Lennox chose Servidyne as its partner after conducting extensive due diligence. Servidyne worked with Lennox in a comprehensive information gathering and analysis process, identifying and prioritizing which facilities represented the best opportunities for energy efficiency improvements. Facilities were then placed into groups based on their relative ability to derive significant operating cost savings.
“The first step of the process involves completing a detailed facility audit at each site, identifying any facility improvement measures requiring capital investment that should yield significant energy cost savings,” explains Todd Jarvis, President and Chief Operating Officer of Servidyne. “Having this snapshot allows us to prioritize opportunities based on potential cost savings, and to earmark the resources needed for capital improvements. The results of each building’s audit are reviewed at the site and corporate levels, and projects are approved for implementation and funding on an individual basis. Our energy engineering and execution management capabilities are keys to the success of this program.”
“Partnering with Servidyne and the resulting energy reductions and associated greenhouse gas emission reductions has been critical to our efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of our operations” says Mark Yohman, Director of Environmental Affairs of Lennox International.
The 2010 projects enabled Lennox to save more than 20 million kWh annually, equivalent to the annual energy usage of approximately 1,200 homes. The resulting carbon reductions are equivalent to more than 10,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
